- July 14, 2026
We’ve made it our mission to find the best.
With Henry and Bandit in tow, we’ve wandered into cosy inns, pulled up a seat in beer gardens with spectacular views of Bamburgh Castle, and tested pints of real ales.
Whether you’re after a hearty meal made from fresh produce, a bar area buzzing with locals, or a relaxing coastal retreat by the fire, Bamburgh has you covered.
There’s so much to enjoy here with dogs, from beach runs to castle visits and more.

The Best Pubs for Dogs in Bamburgh
This list is based on first-hand experiences, so if it’s here, you can trust it’s worth a visit, with or without a four-legged friend.
01 — The Middle Inn Pub
The Middle Inn is one of Bamburgh’s most dog-friendly pubs, offering a cosy atmosphere with a roaring fire, free dog treats on the bar, and no dog seating restrictions.
Unlike some pubs that only allow dogs in certain areas, here, they’re welcome throughout.
The massive beer garden is a standout feature, perfect for summer visits, though water bowls are only at the back.
Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the space had plenty of dogs inside, proving it’s a local favourite for dog owners.
It’s an excellent spot for a drink after a beach walk.

If you’re staying nearby, this is exactly the kind of place people wander into after a beach walk. Many visitors base themselves in dog-friendly cottages near Bamburgh’s Front Street, making it incredibly easy to pop into pubs like The Middle Inn.
02 — The Bar Area at The Victoria Hotel
Although this is one of Bamburgh’s best dog-friendly hotels, the separate pub bar at The Victoria Hotel is a lively and dog-friendly spot that welcomes both locals and visitors.
It is a cosy and well-decorated space with a relaxed feel, split into a main bar and a sports area with large TVs showing football.
Dogs are everywhere, lying under tables and sipping from the most enormous water bowl we have ever seen.
The atmosphere is friendly and informal.
There are no cocktails, but the comprehensive drinks list features real ales, wines and lagers like Poretti.
If you are in Bamburgh, it is easy to pop in for a drink with or without a dog.

03 — The Lord Crewe Pub
We popped into The Lord Crewe, but it was packed, so we must return for a proper visit. In the meantime, here are some quick notes.
This AA-accredited five-star inn sits in the heart of Bamburgh, just a short stroll from the castle and beach.
It’s known for exceptional seafood, including Lindisfarne Oysters and Lobster Thermidor, alongside a well-stocked bar with real ales, cocktails, and fine wines.
Dog-friendly seating is available in the restaurant and beer garden, though overnight stays with dogs are only permitted in the Bamburgh bedroom. We’ll be back soon for the full review!
Still Sniffing Out More…
This list is just getting started. We’re only including places we’ve visited with Henry and Bandit, so right now, that means pubs we’ve walked into, pints we’ve enjoyed, and beer gardens where the dogs got their water bowl.
But there’s always more to explore. Every time we’re back in Bamburgh, we’ll add to this page, whether it’s a new favourite spot, a hidden gem, or just another brilliant place to sit and enjoy a drink with the dogs.
There is no guesswork, no generic recommendations. If it’s here, we’ve been there. Check back soon as we dig up even more dog-friendly pubs.
