Where to Eat and Drink with Your Dog in Northumberland

If you’re planning meals out during your dog-friendly stay in Northumberland, this guide makes it easy. We group all the cafés, pubs and restaurants we’ve tried or reviewed into one simple place, whether you’re staying in Bamburgh, venturing inland to Rothbury, or exploring hidden coastal gems.

From relaxed lunches to evening pub stops, these links help you find venues where dogs are genuinely welcome. This page is more a list of popular dog-friendly restaurants in Northumberland that we are working our way through.

Every place in the individual reviews section is somewhere we’ve sat down with the dogs, muddy paws, soaking leads and all. If the staff made a fuss of them, or if the water bowls were empty in the corner, you’ll read about it. It’s less a polished list and more a record of the stops we’d genuinely go back to on our trips.

Individual Places We've Reviewed

If you’re heading out for a meal or a drink in Northumberland, these are the spots we’ve personally visited with our dogs. Each review is based on an authentic experience, covering atmosphere, dog facilities, and whether we’d recommend it to you guys.

Restaurants

We first heard about The Potted Lobster on The James Martin cookery programme when the Hairy Bikers visited. So we found ourselves in Bamburgh with Henry and Bandit, and we thought we’d give it a go.

Cafes

Some places have a buzz about them. You walk past, glance in, and there’s that feeling: It’s always busy, people are queuing, plates are clinking, and staff are rushing around with teapots. That’s exactly what we noticed about The Copper Kettle Tearoom in Bamburgh.
